  • Overview

    A Senior Account Executive should have a strong understanding of the PR industry with the ability to manage some campaigns and projects. The role requires a strong level of writing across a range of forms, from tweets to thought leadership articles or advertorials and a level of self-sufficiency, while at the same time the ability to work effectively as a part of a team. Senior Account Executives need to inspire and help manage junior members of the team. Self-motivation is a must, along with a strong passion for the industry. Professionalism is required as the role begins to involve management of different levels of stakeholders, from media, to clients, to other senior colleagues. A positive and tenacious attitude are beneficial to thrive in a busy, yet rewarding environment. Senior Account Executives are expected to have begun to develop a strong set of contacts, including media, bloggers and other influential stakeholders relevant to their work. Knowledge and understanding of digital channels is required, along with a creative and curious mind. At Senior Account Executive level you will also have commercial understanding and exposure to finance and budget planning.

     

    About the Role

    Support, implement and develop media and client relations to support the execution of campaigns and events. Communicate activities to team members and act as a coach to Account Coordinators and Account Executives, developing their skills and capabilities.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    Client Excellence:

    • Produce media materials, media invites, biographies, plans and proposals and trend forecasts to a high standard.
    • Provide input to the implementation of new and existing campaigns, plan PR events.
    • Maximise and leverage existing media relationships and proactively generate new contacts with senior journalists, and other stakeholders.  Implement and manage sell-ins to achieve clients coverage aims.
    • Manage small projects, demonstrate event coordination skills; efficiently coordinating, liaising and negotiating with suppliers, managing and organising internal/external meetings/events, media packs, logistics, team diaries and travel requirements (flight/car/hotel bookings), whilst keeping teams and clients up-to-date.
    • Think ahead, prepare for and anticipate issues and challenges to projects with reference to critical-path and milestones, highlighting critical considerations to the team leader.
    • Support the Account Manager and/or Account Director in driving media campaigns to help surpass the client’s expectations.
    • Acquire a broad knowledge and understanding of different communications and business disciplines.  Continuously develop an understanding of Ketchum, Ketchum’s clients and their sectors, the media and the competitive environment.
    • Actively participate in creative brainstorm sessions, share new ideas and support and encourage colleagues.
    • Provide the client with weekly and monthly updates.
    • Contribute to post campaign evaluation and with team highlight strengths and identify opportunities to improve.

     

    Business Development:

    • Negotiate with journalists, specialists, and key opinion leaders on behalf of the client; ensure that goods and services are delivered to the agreed time and quality specifications.
    • Develop and update client budgets for campaigns and events
    • Accurately and promptly process personal and/or team accounts; invoices, purchase orders and expenses; ensuring all costs are charged accurately to the appropriate accounts
    • Demonstrate an understanding of current business performance and future plans, focus efforts on business objectives and adding value.
    • Submit all timesheets in a punctual and accurate manner.
    • Research opportunities for new business pitches - providing accurate and concise information to the team.
    • Provide administrative support for proposal documents.
    • Actively participate in new business pitches.
    • Work on additional projects for existing clients as directed.

     

    Talent Engagement:

    • Work cohesively and collaboratively with your team, proactively support and anticipate areas in need of assistance or improvement and act quickly and decisively to deal with potential problems, highlighting any critical considerations to the team leader.
    • Manage regular communication with junior team members ensuring they operate in the most effective and efficient way to meet client needs.  Ensure an accurate view and understanding of their workload, priorities, deadlines and aspirations.  Delegate projects and activities to stretch performance and capability.
    • Act as a coach and mentor to junior colleagues, creating a collaborative environment that encourages productive team relationships.
    • Show willingness to perform beyond assigned duties if requested.
    • Actively participate in the performance management system. Contribute to colleagues performance review in a timely manner.
    • Conduct interviews for prospective candidates and use the recruitment process to enhance the reputation of Ketchum.

     

    Administration and Reporting:

    • Produce and maintain contact and activity reports.
    • Maintain and supply status reports and evaluation reports to team.
    • Provide support and guidance to team on the completion of all administration on the account.
    • Demonstrate and maintain up-to-date knowledge and capability in all main software packages including Microsoft Office.
